Anyone have a problem with their roadglide windshield becoming scratched? On my 06, I had two scratches on the inside of the lower portion on the tint from the dash rubbing. Harley finally fixed the problem by installing two rubber adhesive strips on the inner fairing plastic, curing the rubbing problem and installing a new windshield. When this first occurred, HD gave me the run around. After I called Wisconsin, they sent me to my dealer for the fix. They acted stupid on the phone, not openly verifying that there was adesign problem. I've seen countless roadies with this problem. Just curious how many ofRG owners have experienced this.
That black area is not a tint, but a black film, and it separates and bubbles from the windshield. Poor design. I've had 3 HD windshields and all have had the problem. Never heard of any recalls to fix this product.
If you want an excellent replacement, look at a Clearview windshield on their website. Lots of us RoadGliders have one and really like the product.....
Im on my 3rd windshield under warranty with 9000 miles on my 06 Road Glide. Dealer claims hes never seen this happen before but Im sure he has. They did install some rubber strips on 3rd try but theyve already peeled off too. I just put a shorter 8 inch on so I will see how this holds up. Poor design...other than that, I love the bike.
If you want a windsheild that is made the way they are suppose to be made get a Clearview. Son replaced his before he had any problems with it and when he ordered his I went ahead and got me one too.[sm=goodidea.gif]
My screw holes are cracking out due to the many attempts to mount the windshield correctly. I even put in bigger capture nuts. Every RG I've seen has the maks worn out where it rubbs on the failring. I saw three used ones at a dealer a couple of weeks ago.
