I have a 05 EG and would like to add the HD security key fob. What all do I need to buy? Just the $300 module and have HD hook it up? or is there more to buy like a install kit? I would like to buy the module online at a HD store with 20% off then take it to my dealer for the install. Anyone done this?
See if you can locate the PDF instruction on line. Just the other day, someone said it a simple plug and play as long as you read and follow instructions. Replaces the signal light box (alarm is white plug). Yours is in a different location but sure it is similar to my 04. The black plug next to the snap retainer below white plug is for the alarm with battery I do not have.

It's been a while since I installed an alarm (TSSM) on my 04 RK. But I seem to recall part of the instructions were in the service manual, and part I had to download from offline. I believe the latter were instructions that come with the TSSM, but that weren't included with mine (bought on eBay)…or else were instructions in a dealer book I didn't have. In any case, they were available online.
Beyond doing things per the directions, it was not a difficult install.
I bought my TSSM on eBay. The base number for those years is consistent, but there are several 'letters', each of which applies to a different year. If you look it up you'll find the info online. You could try buying off eBay. You could save a few bucks. It was 2011 when I upgraded my 04. The modules were fairly plentiful then. Not sure about now, but worth a shot.
A few years ago I went to a dealer & told them I was prepared to spend $1200 in accessories & have them installed. Front end kit, hand controls etc so I didn't want to do those myself. Told them I could buy online at 20% off & if they matched I'd give them the order plus labor. They said no, sorry. I walked back to service & told them same story, they said bring us the parts, we don't care where you bought them. Just my experience but I'm sure it varies from dealer to dealer & maybe even the at the employee level.
Exactly. No dealer that I know will let you walk in with parts unless they know you bought it from them.
Never had a problem ...
OP - no install kit necessary for an 05 touring if you purchase Smart security 68200-00D. (Install kit required for 2000 model year.
Get a service manual - remove TSM and install TSSM.

my local dealer will do the labor, even if the parts are not purchased from them.
either way it is money that the service department is bringing in. Now some dealers may give you better labor rates if they know the parts were purchased from their store.
