Default Changed Windshield, New weatherstripping???

Just changed the windshield on my 06 SG. After instilled there is a very small but noticable gap, to me anyway, in two spots on front side. Do i need to worry about water seeping. Or will it conform over time if it sets in the sun for example. What weatherstripping or double sided tape would you use to seal tight? Thanks.

Loosen the bolts off and try again, sounds like it's not fitting together properly, do not overtighten the bolts, because you can pull the fairing inserts out.

What kind of windshield did you change to? I havethe 10" clear and 6" dark smoke windshields from Fastaire and have the same gaps you are talking about. The problem is that the aftermarket windshields are flat where the factory windshield is curved. The flat windshields exert a forward pressure onto the fairing creating the gap. Not too much you can do about it really. I've thought about buying the bar and shield trim for the front fairing thinking parhaps that may help.

Or crack the windshield.........ya need to make sure that the larger part of the hole is fitting around the outside diameter of the insert (you'll actually feel it snap into place).

I agree with bdjhog, I purchased a fastaire a couple of days ago and have the same cracks, and yes the windshield is positioned over the pins. Fastaire is a flat sheet with no formed curvature.

Question I have is this: My stock windshield did not appear to water tight either. Is water seeping into the fairing bad?????

Cr@#, I just ordered a Clearview windshield. Are you telling me I will be waiting 5 to 6 weeks for a windshield that will not fit?

I don't believe it's the windshield. I noticed the same thing after I got my inner fairing replaced because of the mirror recall. Dosen't matter which windshield I use now. I still have a little space. I just don't worry about it.

For now that's the plan. I went back and pressed on the outside of the fairing as I tightened the screws and that did make a bit of a difference. By the way it was a "flat 6 inch" replacement purchased from Sin State Cycle off eBay. Other than the small gap the wind shield has made a difference for me over the stock 4",I'm 5'9".

today i was trying to put my 6in windshield back on from my super low black shield. i had to get new rubbergrommets (sp?) the old ones were fcuked. i chose to keep the low one on.

anyway it was a pain in the ***. i bought the new road glide chrome windshield trim piece from HD looks cool but the old rubber weather strip on the left side kept sliding out. i removed it out of frustration.
i ended up taking the fairing off to make sure the new grommets (sp?) were installed correctly.lets hope so. im gonna get a second opinion before in put the fairing back on.
