Default Straight pipe?

I have a question about back pressure. I'm planning on ordering fuel moto head pipes, screamin' eagle tuner, and air cleaner. I'm going to use their full size crossover pipe. My mufflers have already been hollowed out. Will this cause any issues other than being probably too loud? I don't quite have it in the budget for slip ons right now with everything else going on. Thanks

Back pressure really only comes into play with your fuel map. If you're doing the tuner then I assume you are having it tuned on a dyno? If you are then you shouldn't have issues. Most of the time when people have issues it's because they modify the exhaust and intake without compensation of fuel. When you can move more air, you need more fuel. Otherwise you will run lean and lean=hot. You don't want hot. With less back pressure and more fuel your bike will run better and cooler, and you will notice that it runs better and the throttle response is better. What kind of bike are you working on? And remember that a dyno will get you the most accurate results!!!!!

http://www.dkcustomproducts.com/Thunder-Torque-Inserts-258-Model-Family-DK-TTI-258.htm

I've used DK customs thunder torque inserts on my last two bikes. My sportster had hollowed out mufflers and no cats, and the inserts brought back all of the torque I lost and they sound good too. All you have to do is drill a hole in the muffler and bolt them on. Cheap and easy. Your bike would definitely sound and perform better this way.

I'm not affiliated with the company in any way. Just love their products!

Regardless of your fuel map you need some back pressure to create torque.

2010 flhtk. I wasn't planning on using a dyno other than by feel. Trial and error type.

Without knowing your air/fuel ratios you could do more harm then good, I like the baffle idea from amberwhiskeyiron, but your call. You'll have enough back pressure with or without it, but yes it will be very noisy lol. Now as far as the tuner goes, why not dyno it? Think of your tuning as insurance for an expensive motor. Depending on the info you get, you may be able to pull an A/F ratio from the tuner. I don't know how familiar you are with these numbers, but try and keep it above 13.7 and below 14.6. Let us know how it all turns out!

I'm sure FM will provide tips and support if you buy their product, but use a tuner they also support, then you will have a fighting chance of getting your bike to run right. It would be worth contacting them for advice with your current plans. However if you don't 'have the budget' at present, how about putting off any change until you do?!

With a stock engine you're better off keeping the stock head pipe (remove the Cat) and buying some quality slip-ons instead.
Even used slip-ons would be better than a hollowed out stock slip-ons. Sound better too.

Call and take the advice of FM. Definitely think about getting a Power Vison /w support from them.
You'll come out cheaper and the bike will run better... they have so many maps to choose from to get your bike to running good.

you will definitely get your low speed torque back if you put some kind of baffle in the pipes - DK mentioned above or BCT that I used work well.
