Man, that sucks. But that isn't nearly as bad as some of the potholes I've hit and never had any damage from it. In Oklahoma, we'd call that a rain groove.

What's the purpose of all these big dressers with itty-bitty front tires that look like they would be better served on a Sportster?
While at the same time we see Dynas and Sportsters with FAT front tires?
Seems to me the older 16" dresser front wheel and tire had a lot more "meat" on the tire to "absorb the road" and any hazards in it. And a bigger "footprint" for a better grip while braking (where something like 75% or so of the weight of the bike shifts to the front tire).
I guess they look snazzy, though....
At the minimum, I'd want a 17" front wheel like the Limiteds and Road Kings have...
