Default Cracked wheel
So the other night on a ride with a few friends I hit a pothole going through the city and it ate my rim has this happened to anyone else yet?

wow, that`s nasty. I`ve gone through 3 yes 3 (80 spoked) rims being bent by a pot hole. 2 of them I didn't even notice till I cleaned bike and then saw it.

Yes, it's happened to me but not with those rims. On the older air strike rims.

I immediately found the busted rim on the front but when I laid down on one side to look at it closely, I happened to look over at the back wheel and found the back rim busted as well. So check....

ESP (road hazard) picked up mine. All 1600 bucks worth.

Yea when I hit it the jolt was pretty good kept the bike up and came to a light finally and my friend told me the tires flat and I knew it already I expected a cut in the tire not crack in the rim and I got the bike home slowly since I wasnt too far from home as thats where we were all headed.

Ill post a pic of the pothole

You can see where the asphalt patch failed - did you report it to the City - here in Colorado if a pothole is reported and then you hit it, they are responsible for the damages

Not bashing. Just curious. I wonder if the old 16 inch rims with more rubber between the road and the rim would stand up any better.
