I'll be another that says they work just fine. I have a 15 CVO limited and I modified mine to fit around the bullet style signals. I also made a deflector for between the forks and this further calms the air that comes up over the tank. I also get lots less water in the rain.

Thanks for the responses, guys. Sounds like there is a way to fit the fangs with the lowers. However, when I look at how much space there is on my 2014 SGS between my engine guard and the fang when I turn to full lock, it is nearly touching. I guess the only thing to do is bend the fangs like some have said, if it doesn't fit.

I have replaced the piddly little windshield with a couple of different height Freedom Shields (7" and 9") which works great, but I still get some pretty bad helmet vibration when going straight into a headwind or following behind a semi. Gets tiring after a couple of hundred miles. The fangs made a huge difference. I also bought the little fairing wings that attach to the lower/outer edge, but haven't installed them yet.

One more question... for those of you who have had both, which would you say is more effective at stopping the buffeting if you had to choose one or the other?

Thanks again guys.

Cheers

Ross

I put one of my lowers on and had enough clearance for the fang.
The little fairing wings did the least, windshield and fangs are first.
Trucks and bikes don't mix.

I have an SG with JES fangs that are made to fit with the lower fairings. If yours hit you need to get new fangs or "modify" the fangs you have.

I use factory hard lowers 100% of the time and JES fork deflectors during cooler months. For me, they both work in reducing buffeting individually and compliment each other when used together. I don't use the JES fork deflectors during the summer, because they work a little too well. When it's hot, I need that airflow that comes in under the fairing and up from around the tank. It's just too hot without it. My factory hard lowers and JES deflectors work and fit together without any modification.

That is super helpful guys, thanks. And thanks also for the pic, Mike, showing me how they look together. When I searched this topic in the forum there seemed to be just as many guys who say they work fine together as say they don't. I really like the look and functionality of the lowers, but I don't want to give up the fangs, as I really felt a difference with them on. In in the prairies, near the foothills of the Rockies, and we get some pretty crazy winds out here in the summer.

I'm going to go order the lowers today, with the quick-release mounting system. I'm sure they will take a couple of months to get here, but that's ok... we're snowbound for at least that long anyway.

I'll post pics when I get them on! Thanks again, guys. Very helpful forum here.

Cheers

Best mod I ever did regarding wind deflection/turbulence and its even under $20. After installing this I get only the slightest updraft behind the windshield. I don't even notice it whereas before the updraft would lift my shirts/jacket and goatee. I would even get small sand/road debris particles that would blow up and hit me in the face. Now, nothing, and the ride is 10x better and smoother. HTH.

Those don't work for the 14+ years. I had the HD version on my 13 and worked great so I made one myself that works: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/new-r...l#post13750764

Default A less complicated option to reduce buffeting

What about soft lowers? They're easily removable (no tools required) when it's too hot or you want more air, and they store in a saddlebag. The Desert Dawgs are also Made in America. http://www.leadermotorcycle.com/harl...n-rain-guards/
