Got a service manual?

If you're good with a wrench, go for it. I've done 2 swaps with no manual, but if you want to save yourself some internet research time, get the manual and go for it. It's not so much a pain in the *** as it is a long job.

.......i don't do much wrenching and most of the time when i try, i mess it up and have to do it again so i pay the $$ for the stealer to do it. well worth the money vs. the frustration that accompanies many of the things i try to do. handle bars....on an Ultra with all the disconnects....i know i wouldn't even think about doing it. good luck.

I just did it on my 07, not really a bad job at all. Everyones different though. If you have a garage with tools, I assume you use them so you should be alright. Some people can't change the oil in their vehicles though. You should know your ability.

All you really have to do inside the fairing is remove 4 bolts on the radio and unplug 2 connectors. The inner fairing will tilt forward far enough you don't have to remove it. It's a fairly simple job.
