I am looking for a helmet that is quiet. After long rides the usual ringing in my ears gets almost unbearable. It eventually quiets back down to the norm but I am afraid one of these times it won't. I wear an HJC 3/4 currently. Do you guys have any suggestions? Thanks!
i just use the foam ones gotten at wally world....i get the purple ones. a package of multiple pairs comes with a little carrying case to help keep them clean. i even sleep in them, especially when i do shift work and need to not be disturbed. course the down side is you wont be able to hear the radio....cars around you and horns as good as without them.
I wore disposable soft earplugs for the first time. It made the ride so much more enjoyable and it was a really windy day. Will be riding with earplugs from now on especially when on the super slab
I have had Tinnitus for years, water running, cricket,s chirping, yea it will make you crazy.. I wear a 1/2 helmet and wear earbuds with my music.. If I keep my mind busy with listening to music or sounds it seems not to bother me too much.. At night when the house is quiet is the worse for me...

Anytime you have ringing in your ears, that's hearing damage in progress, and it's cumulative over time. Motorcycles (exhaust and wind noise) are notorious for damaging, high decibel levels. I've started wearing those compressible foam earplugs under a half helmet...3/4 helmet is probably better. Loud noise is also stress inducing and distracting. I feel much more relaxed and attentive when riding with earplugs. They cut the decibel level approx. 30 decibels and put you at a safer decibel level...you can still hear all the road noise you need to hear for safety reasons. You can buy a package of them (10 pair) at a drug store or HomeDepot/Lowes. I also wear them when cutting grass, using shop vac, power tools, etc.,....I enjoy hearing and music too much!
My dad worked in heavy construction for lots of years. He has constant tinnitus now for which he wears hearing aids...they help reduce his tinnitus somewhat but not totally. He can't drive in a car with the windows down now. Sometimes he says it sounds like he's got a freight train in his head and it's constant. Hope this doesn't happen to me. Also, some experts think it's hereditary, but high decibel noise is definitely a culprit even without hereditary predisposition.
