high heat powder coating
Hi was wondering i have a 2 into 1 exhaust and i want to get coated black and i cant find anyone here that does ceramic but some guys are saying high heat powder coating will be fine on a muffler?One guy i talked with said his powder is good to about 1200 degrees.Has any one powder coated their mufflers and how did they hold up?The guy said he can do it over chrome and i cant see how it would stick to chrome and he said no problem as long as it prepped properly?I thought you would need the chrome removed

I powder over Chrome all the time. Why couldn't you? As long as its good chrome, not pitted or flaking off. Ive had my exhaust powder coated for a couple years now, still looks good, but I baby it. High temp just seems to be a little thinner and more brittle, take care of it and you shouldn't have any issues.

Had my chrome fatshotz and heat shields ceramic coated black. Holding up well. Anyone that does powder should be able to do ceramic...

well guess i will have give up on this went to take of that rinehart end cap and i cant get any of the 3 shallow head allen bolts out tried penetrating oil cant get them out and now the heads are rounding i also have been reading how much trouble guys have getting those caps to come out i think its time to just leave them chrome.Blacking it out seemed like a good idea. time for a beer and call it a day
