I have Rinehart 4in. chrome with black tips. I have had a rattle noise and started bumping around on the bike to see if I could locate. Bumped the right muffler and something rattled. Reached inside muffler and I could spin the baffle with my hand. Is the baffle supposed to be connected to the end cap? I don't want to take it apart and it suppose to turn.
On a side note, I did turn it until it seemed to get tight and my rattle went away. So is my baffle bad?
I've never had Rineharts, but I'm sure they're not supposed to move. Is there a hole on the bottom of the muffler where you may have lost a screw or bolt?
My Big Louies have 2 bolts on the bottom of each muffler that attach the baffle.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! ,,,,,,,
YEP, The blasted baffle bolt fell out of the bottom!!!!!
I had a similar problem, but instead of it rattling it just spit the baffle out while on the freeway. I contacted Rinehart about a replacement baffle. A few days later I got a letter wanting to know the number on the muffler. It turns out that before a certain date there was no way to retain the baffle within the caps. They changed their manufacturing method, and they now have a bolt that goes through both the end cap and the baffle. THEY SENT ME A NEW PAIR OF MUFFLERS FOR FREE, and even covered shipping to send the old ones back. I suggest you contact them directly and see what they say.

I had a similar problem. One baffle was loose and I could move it around in the muffler body, it was also starting to deform the end cap as it rattled and pushed outward. I called Rinehart customer service and they asked for the lot number off of the muffler. Apparently they had a some of the 4" mufflers where this was an issue. Once they had my lot number and a few pictures of the problem, they sent me a new set of 4" mufflers, no charge.
Had same issue a couple years back , after second set went south i went with vance and hines . No more rineharts on my bikes , to each their own though . Now have hd street cannons and love em on my new bike
