Default '09 vs 2015

So you guys that have done this, what is your opinion? I have an '09 with many extras, but the biggest being the FuelMoto 107 with Jackpots. The other bling can be moved over to the '15 for the most part. But the 107 produces more HP and Torque then the 103 in the '15, actaully it produces more HP and Torque then the 110 in the CVO... I was at the shop looking at the '15 Ultra Limited Low. Basically it would cost me, my bike and $14.5K... What am I really getting for $14.5K...?

Liquid Cooled Heads
Touch Screen Nav Info Center
Hydraulic Clutch
LED lamps
Bags are a bit bigger and one touch open

Is there any major things I am not thinking of? I for sure want to wait till a demo day here locally and take one for a ride, but wanted to get a NON sales persons opinion. If you made the move, are you happy you did?

All those things mentioned mean nothing to me, some are actually a negative in my book. Also LED's and be added via Custom Dynamics. Your 107 out weights all of them. Just sayin!

You did however not mention the improved front suspension on the Rushmore rides. I believe they have 49mm and also the triple tree has pinch bolts on the TOP as well as the bottom. I've read it's a much improved ride.

The same mod can pretty much be had on pre '14's by installing a CCE triple tree.

A some what better SE compensator.
A 5th gear that does not whine.
Better shocks, larger forks, better tree.
Linked Brakes.
A place to put your cell phone.
A nice mailbox vent air thingy.
Wider passenger space.
A redesigned tourpak with more room.

If you hadn't upgraded your 09 you would also be getting better cams, airbox, and 7 cubic inches.

Something like that.

I traded my 08 SG for a 15 RGS and I am very glad I did. It was a big leap forward for me. You have the new frame and the FM 107 which are two things I didn't have. I would just say ride a new one and see what you think.

Ya, that for sure is my plan. Waiting for a demo days here so I can take one for a ride. I know the 107 in mine is going to be a big deal. However, I can always have Jamie at FM do his great work on the '15 as well... Just have to be ok with the $$ cost..

Like you, I am riding a 2009 and have not traded it in on a new model because, like you, I do not see enough benefits. I have ridden several of the 2015 touring bikes at demo day and outside of new front forks, I just wasn't impressed enough to pay the premium for a new bike. One thing that really turned me off with the new 2015s was the entertainment center. Given the problems I have had with the relatively low tech Harmon Kardon radio and CD player on my 2009, that new entertainment center really spooked me. The second thing that I did not like was the half assed attempt at cooling the exhaust valves with a cup of water.
I can see nothing but a drain on my bank account after the warranty runs out and I have to replace that screen. I don't need the hassle. Just my opinion because I don't own a new one.

Right, I also read on the HD site a lot of negative comments about the daymaker bulbs fogging over just after the warranty. Not sure if that's been resolved. If the "ride" its self is that much better, I'd be willing to have Jamie do an upgrade on the engine in the '15. I'll have to take one for a ride. But I can't go backwards in HP and Torque... Minimum, I'd have to get the '15 upgraded... All the "other" things need to be enough to make me part with basically $14.5K...

Great Feedback! thx... others are mentioning the front forks being a big plus. The entertainment center, isn't a selling point for me. I have a bluetooth stereo receiver I plug into my HK and stream everything from my phone. Nav, Pandora, etc.. I don't really use the Nav enough to make it a selling point. I've also just used my Gamin if needed that bad to see a screen a couple times. I like you so far am also right now just seeing it being a drain on the bank account. I have yet to take one for a ride, so I need to do that to be a final decision.

Instead of planning to spend money on the engine, why not just step into a 2015 CVO Limited? It may not have quite the punch your 107 does, but the 110 is pretty nice. With the CVO you'd also get the upgraded amp and 6.5" speakers (I saw in another thread you were upgrading your audio).

You'd be paying a good bit more up front, but everything has been upgraded and the resale of the bike is based on the purchase price. The heated seat is REALLY nice and the automatic locking tour pack, saddle bags, and steering head are awesome.

I went in to buy an Ultra Limited and my wife insisted we buy the CVO. I was not thrilled spending the money at the time, but a year later I have no regrets.

Correct... I have a HogTunes system I have been working with... (Not real impressed, but ya, that's another thread) :-)... Funny you should mention that about the CVO... I was actually looking at the CVO yesterday as well with the same thought process you just mentioned. It's much closer to my 107, it has all the upgrades I have made to my '09.... Honestly, it was just the price tag... The '15 CVO was $40K... If I traded mine on the Limited Low like I mentioned I'm at about $14.5K and my bike. With FM doing another engine upgrade $1500, I'm at $16K out of pocket.. The CVO and my bike, I'm at about $27K (out of pocket)... It's a pretty big difference, but ya, I was looking at that option also... One other thing, and I know many are going to think I'm nutz, but it's just my preference.. I like vivid black, you can't get a CVO in vivid black... I know... I'm nutz right.. LOL
