I ordered a stretched rear fender for my 04 RKC from a smaller company, I thought I would help the little guy out and give them some business. I ordered a ready for paint predrilled in stock fender. I then had to give them new measurements so they could reset their form? and it took 3 months for me to finally receive it. Now I take it to my painter and he tells me it is even worse than I thought. Now I have to try and get in contact with the company and see if they will justify this situation. Then I will be ordering a new one from Bad Dad like I should have done in the first place.
It is completely out of shape, no consistency at all throughout the fender, It isn't centered, there is a small crack. My painter looked at it and said he could do it with a ton of grinding and possibly adding more fiberglass to it but he said even then some of the imperfections would show through the paint. I trust this guy and he knows his stuff. Now I am starting to quest the structure and if it will even hold up. I am just disappointed over all. All the reviews and work I saw from them was great. I'm not trying to trash the company. I just want them to fix this and not by giving me another fender. I just want my money back.
If you ordered by credit card, I would put in a dispute with them. That will with hold payment until a conclusion is reached. The company will have to give a reason why they should get their money.
Hang in there and give them a chance to make it right first. There's absolutely nothing wrong with supporting the small guy, I do the same when I can. But they need to fix the issue if they want to have a good reputation and continue to grow.
I already have to much doubt about this companies products to trust it. I paid for this the day after Thanksgiving so I cannot withhold payment. From what I have seen and read online it looked like they do a great job, the product I received is not even close to being an acceptable product. I already ordered a new one from Bad Dad, and if it is anything like their bags then my painter will be ready to rock and roll on this. The only good that is coming out of this mess is that I am now painting the whole bike a different red.
I don't buy anything without a number of references. ...maybe you did do some homework I dunno, but it sounds like you took a chance. It happens. Sounds like there may have been plenty of room for possible miscommunication on measurments and such too.
It actually sounds like you were their field test site. Sorry.. not making light of it. Tell the guy you want your money back, the product he sent isn't any good to you. He should make it right. ...never mind the waiting and "try again" bull it's been too long already.
Thanks Oldhippie. Yes I did take a chance, but I also did as much research as I could. When the product was initially ordered it was listed as "ready for paint" and "in stock" both false statements. I wasn't asked for measurements till over a month and a half of waiting and bothering them about where it was. Then I was told it would ship soon and I would have a tracking number by the end of such week. Then they needed measurements, then this and that and they once stated they had to reform the mold. I am feeling like I got burned possibly because I was always emailing them wanting to know where my order was.
