Seat, plenty of water (if it is indeed cramps instead of tight muscles) and buy a foam roller. Does wonders for stretching and it's about $15 IRC.

Came across this thread after I found out Monday that I have arthritis in my left hip. I developed this pain from my seating position - lifting my leg from mid controls to highways pegs and back several times during a ride. The resistance from my jean pant leg didn't help either. I let it go unchecked for a couple of years until I couldn't stand it any longer. I'm on meds and have therapy in my future. There's a lot to consider - tall boy seat? Go to forward controls? Move to a touring bike with floor boards? I will continue to monitor this thread to see what others have come up with.

I've already been through and used many of these suggestions.

Staying hydrated, prescription potassium pills, bananas, etc., and I guess to a degree they all contribute to me feeling better.

I learned a long time ago, that when I started having lower back or hip problems, I'd sleep with a pillow placed between my thighs and you can't believe how much this can do for you until you try it.

I'm 64, 6'2+" with a 32" inseam.
The things that I know work for me (on my bike) is perfect-fitting handlebars, a rider backrest, and properly adjusted highway pegs' along with a floorboard re-location kit that allows me to spread my legs out away from the engine and air cleaner.

Spreading my legs and having my feet pointed out actually caused some of my current hip issue. Thus, I've installed a less intrusive, small, round AC cover to fit over the Stage I, allowing me to keep my feet and legs more in-line.

Cramps?? The old standby: Tums. Been working for me for years. Take 2 before ridding and more as needed.

I'm 65 , 6'2" with 35" inseam on a 2003 FLHTCI. First day put on a "tall boy" seat, lowered foot boards to maximum, use sheepskin on the seat and use highway pegs to keep stretching the legs and just put on the 7/8th inch floorboard extenders which really seemed to help a lot. I never carry the wallet in the rear pocket which presses on the sciatic nerve. Every hundred kms. get off and stretch the legs.----- Not altogether bad!
