So I am looking into upgrading my 883 superlow to a Street Glide. What are the best years for the bike and how many miles are too many miles. I found an 07 with 16,000 miles for $14,388. Any info will help thanks.
look for 09+, that gets new frame design, 6-speed, 96'' engine, various other things that were improved with the new model. and should be able to find one in the same price range as the one you mention. 12+ comes stock with 103'' engine. Really most any touring bike will be huge upgrade from a sporty IMO
14 grand is a bit high for an 07. I think you can get an 09 for that! I wouldn't worry about mileage as much as what the PO did to it and how well he took care of it.
These guys are on it! I have an 06 king and a 15 Glide, man the new machine frame is way better and the power night and day! Also the 06 is a five speed and the 15 a six. One thing I can give the 06 is that it is a pretty machine! Cant bring myself to get rid of old Blue...
06-08 are good bikes, 07-08 maybe better as far as trans and 96" engine but gearing was bad 07-08 and 06 is said to be faster. 09 up new frame and 10-13 stuff retros as far as parts. A good mile 06-08 should be in the 12k range and 09 up is 14K up. They hold value so buy private party if you can. Not really much difference in bikes other then options.
I was thinking actually a 11 or newer as I would like the extra power with the 103 and correct me if I'm wrong but isn't ABS and linked brakes standard on the 12+ models. Budget is probably nothing over 17 out the door. This will be my first vehicle I haven't bought new. So really want to make sure I'm getting what I pay for
Does trading in a bike work the same way as trading in a car where they put what you owe on the current vehicle on the new vehicle. So say I buy a $15,000 bike and owe $5000 on my current bike will it now be $20,000 or will most dealers just pay off the bike and start fresh. What is everyone's experiences with this
Linked braking wasn't offered until 2014. ABS was not standard, and actually still isn't unless you go with a 15 Special.
Like previous posters, the jump from 08 to 09 is a huge improvement. Stick with the new frame, plus you'll have an easier time buying parts because it seems like more guys have the 09-13 models.
