I really like my '05 RK...the way is set up, power etc. etc....
My question is...if I were to get a '09 and up RK frame...could I move the rest of my bike over.....basically move (swap) my whole bike to a new frame.
Why? I believe the rake and rear wheel would be different and it would guve me different options.
I will have the bike totally apart for re-painting and while I was at that stage swap the frame.
The mother ship probably couldn't answer that even. Go to the fish. See if they are the same part number. Wasn't 05 the year they had the killer high speed wobble? Surely newer is better. In the cruiser line, change is to better handling.
there is an added engine mount on the 09 frame- that is part of why the frame is more stable- the 4th connection to the drivetrain.
rake is same, the wheelbase is longer, rear wheel could be wider as the rear section of the frame is wider- the stock 09 uses IDS which you don;t have.
I think it would be a fantastic waste of time and money...a "mutt" which nobody will want to buy in the future.
as for sheet metal you can reuse your front fender...everything else is different incl. tank mounts.
I would guess that a smart buyer ( you) and a smart seller ( also you) could move from your bike to an 09+ for a few thousand bucks.
I consider myself smart and in 2010 moved from a '95 to an '09 for about $7K out of pocket- you could do same for much less out of pocket
Sounds like a new bike is in the future.....
There was mention of a "killer wobble" on the '05 ..... I haven't felt it yet but I haven't taken it over 85mph.......what is it all about it?
If you've not encountered the "Infamous Wobble" by now you probably won't, however True Trak would be a much more economical investment than a frame swap

Know my friends 04 Roadking was a year that had it. Think the State Police discovered it at some high speed turn when someone got killed. Something no normal (? HA) rider should be doing. My friend thought his was dangerous plus he was too short for it and after dropping it three times, sold it. I drove it a couple times and compared to my Deuce, though it was smooth as silk and handled well in turns.
