Thanks for all the words of wisdom on this one...and this one is the one with the best promise, I think. I was trying to figure this out but did not want to expand the opening with a round easy out. I couldn't picture what the hell happened here until I saw this link. I always thought the hex was part of the threads..... never knew they were separate.
I always use a little anti-seize on aluminum heads, but I will keep this info for future reference
If he doesn't have the sense to not crank down a plug that hard, he has no business using an easy out of any other method of trying to remedy this. Hand it off to someone else.
This might be over doing it but,if one was concerned about metel getting into the cylinder,couldn't you remove the header,rotate engine until the intake valve is closed and exhaust valve is open,pressurize the exhaust port with air and then anything will just blow out the plug hole.Might be just as east to remove the head....lol.
So after reading the link provided one has to ask one self, did he actually over torque the plug in..... or........ did he actually cross thread the plug in the hole? In any regard good luck!
