So I would really love to see some up close pictures of the wiring connectors that are used in the kit. My concern is that where the two wires plug together, the connectors will/would look kind of clunky. Considering there are multiple wires to be spliced and then re-connected with the kit connectors I just think it would not be a clean look.
Can someone post some pictures of said kit and connectors please.
I have some custom stuff added in my tour pak- so I made my own wiring harness.
( no speakers, power only...ground, run, brake and acc circuit for 12 v power point and usb chargers)
I have a 1 foot cable coming out of my tourpak...and a 3 foot cable coming from behind my left side cover...it runs along the frame rail...then up on the inside of the TP mount.
that is where the connectors mate.
both are wrapped with loop velcro
hook velcro is on the inside surface of the mount...so they stick there.
when the TP is off, the cable from the bike is attached to hook velcro on the top of the shock tower.
I used flat 4 trailer plugs which are cheap and waterproof...also has a led build in to check function

Good info to have. Mine is at the dealer being installed this week. Will see how and it looks and use these suggestions if needed. Can't wait to see it stripped down.
I had the quick detach installed when I bought my new Ultra limited but have only ridden it 4 times (3 of the 4 for an hour or less) because of the weather. This past weekend I attempted to take the tour pack off but wasn't sure how to disconnect wiring and rather than take a chance of scratching my bags I decided to wait for a second pair of hands. Once I get it off I'll post ya some pics.
I have a 14 ULTRA with "not so quick" detach tour pack. I'm having problems with the wire routing, especially the connectors rubbing on the fender, when the pack is on. The pack was dealer installed and the plugs wore through the paint to metal, even with several tie wraps holding the wires in place. Any recommendations and or picts?

This is exactly what I'm worried about. I cant imagine the spliced pigtail wires from the bike bouncing around or lying next to some painted surface and scratching it up. For those that asked mine is a 2013 Limited. That's why I really want to see pictures.

Seems to be a couple of threads going on this topic right now. Check out the following thread (instructions c/w pics). It's long and from a few years ago but has worked well for myself & many others. Use Deutsch connectors as they are neat, tidy & weatherproof. As you can see in the "finished up" pics, the connectors don't come close to any painted surface.
I'll take a picture tonight if no one else has by then. I used wire ties to keep the wad of connections off the paint. Been thinking about doing something else since it is a bit of a pain to plug and unplug etc.
