Default Smoother rear shock

Looking for a rear shock that's less harsh than the air shocks on my RK. It would be OK if it lowers my bike a bit. I don't weigh much and ride single up. How would 944-4002UT compare to what's on the bike?

After doing a ton research on here I bit the bullet and ordered a set of ohlins 2-2a from Howard at motorcycle metal dialed into my weight. They are in the mail and hopefully they are better then the 440 progressive I run now. Pretty excited to get them and try them out. Check out his site though, he is great to deal with and knows a lot.

What didn't you like about the 440? I was under the impression that for 1-up riding they were pretty good - and an improvement over stock. Feedback on them would be great.

The 440 are a improved ride still over stock. I find set to low they bottom out very very easily. I now have them max preload and they don't bottom out as much but are very rough still. Cannot find that happy medium. They are the std spring and are 11.5" and don't have much travel. These are the correct spring according to weight recommendations. The ohlins I ordered have 3 1/4" travel and 1" of that will be used for sag. They will sit about the same height but actually have more travel.

JRI B's...they come in 13" (stock length-which is wat I got) and 12" (I think)...I've heard great things about Olins too. Ask Howard at Motorcycle Metal. He's great.

A $10 oil change in the shocks may well give you what you want.

I contacted Progressive about the standard spring 444 because I'm only 150lbs and was concerned about reviewers saying they were too stiff.

Here's what Gerrad at Progressive said:
I typically hear that the standard springs start to feel too stiff around 150-160 lbs or less. But everyone is different and some people like the suspension to be stiffer in back. So one guy that is 150-160 or below may not like it, while the next guy at the same weight may like it just fine

I'll probably talk to Howard again when I'm ready to bite the bullet. I ride mostly 2 up but I don't think that "a bit stiff solo" is an acceptable compromise. I guess we'll see how I feel after I get him to actually quote them. So far all I got is a suspension lesson

That last sentence made me laugh. And I needed a good laugh thank you.
