We talkin' the same kinda trailer? Ah'm talkin' 'bout the kind ya pull BEHIND the bike! Ah've never trailered a bike to a destination - ta us, the fun is gettin' thar!
If thats a pic of your ride, NICE. Whats up with yo grammer ? Why is it with stores at every corner would you want a cooler on a trailer ? Thats kinda GOLDWINGISH ain't it ? LOL .
At any rate , I think the cost of the trailer can't be justified. It's nice but not $5,000 nice. It would only serve me on camping trips. When i take a trip, I TAKE A TRIP. I don't go shoping on a trip. If i want to go shoping i stay home. If i have to have something that bad i mail it home. I love the feeling of my harley lightly packed two up with the power. But i guess if some people like to travel with the house its ok. I could use a friend like you though so you could cary some of my cargo. LMAO .
Lemme write this real slow so you kin comprehend it.....it's called T O U R I N G. It's also called "keep Mama happy". She loves ta ride, but loves ta have her "stuff" along, too. More important to me ta have her happy than not, so to me, not a biggie.
So....what's yer average mileage on a trip? We've found that given the variety of terrain we'll cover, just the various jackets can be a challenge ta have along. We've been on the plains @ 100 degrees, an' in blizzards the next day.....
I too have been pulling a trailer for a few years and fully think that I am safer towing a trailer than packing my bike like the Clampets on the way to Beverly Hills! Of course it does take longer to stop so I don't push the envelope while towing.
So far all my trailering has been with a 1500 Goldwing - Now I have a 2000 Ultra. What hitch do you rebel trailer tow'ers use anyway?
I have and like a reciever style hitch from MC Hitch. The price is right!
Towing a trailor keeps us in the wind. Need it to carry wheelchair for wife. Really don't notice it behind you. We would not be able to keep riding and would not have as much fun with out it.Once you start using it your find all the othercool things you can use it for.So to us it is priceless.
If you are trying to justfy the price of a trailor how did you justfy the bike in the first place?
I got a Piggy Backer. $654 delivered. It aint real fancy like the Bushtechs but it has 22 ft storage and will tote 150 lbs of ladies shoes, purses, hair dryers, make up bags and other essentials for the wife. It don't leak and it is black to match my bike,so what else can you want in a trailer?? Even got a rack to haul the beer cooler on. I found that pulling a trailer is muchmore convenientand safer than trying to load your scooter down with everything you need for anything more than an overnighter.
I use my trailer when on a two up trip for more than a week, just to carry the stuff to make life comfy and to stay out of the laundry, who wants to wash clothes on a vacation. We even took a laptop on our three week trip last year, so we could take care of banking and such, also worked good for planning the next days destination (available motels, etc.).
Used to "think" that trailers would be dangerous, until I started pulling one, hardly know it is there.
Yer spot-on Bigdee - the trick is ta do what works best fer each of us. We saved a long time ta pay fer this stuff as we went, so we got what we wanted. Ah've seen folks totally scratch build sum purty (and not-so-purty) trailers - but it's what works fer each of us that counts!
Buddy of mine made a trailer with one of those storage compartments you can buy for the top of your car, bought a little trailer frame and mounted it on there. Looks real good. Works well too!
