hello is the noise coming from the trans if so dont worry about it its normal but its under warranty so i wouls say go to your dealer and have it checked out
I have the same noise, as does many other owners, and not only does it do it in all gears but does it in neutral as well. If you run the bike until it is good and hot then place the trans in neutral, then apply throttle while slowlyraising the RPM's,you'll hear what I mean. My guess is poor machining or excessive tolerances, since it only does it when the engine is hot. The 5th gear noise, everyone complains about, isn't the knocking and clattering noise your hearing. The 5th gear noise doesn't bother me, it'sthe knocking andclatteringcombined with the engine overheatingthat gets to me. Make sure you keep the engine RPM's around 2500 -3000 RPM or you'll get a knock caused by lugging the engine.
07 RG I get a ticking noise at 2k rpm then smooths out. I figure it is just part of the engine. My 05 Royal star had a cam chain slapping sound on idle and the dealer put in a new cam chain and the sound was still there. I thing the fairing is amplifying the noise as well!
Mine sounds like a lifter. I have an 01 RKC. It's been like that for 8,000 miles and I can't say weather or not it's getting louder, but I'm not getting used to it. I ordered the parts and shop manuals today. I will find it!
I just got mine back after a rear cyclinder valve guide came loose at operating temp and would start ticking. Tech located it with a stethascope, dealer replaced the head and parts train under warranty. If its a noise you didn't have before, get it checked out. I had to drive mine around then take it back so it could be heard.
Had the same ticking noise (Lifters) with my 07Ultra Clatter when using Syn 3 oil, was driving me nuts. Changed to Mobil 1 V-Twin and instantly the ticking when away! If your running hydraulic lifters there's know reason they should be ticking, that's the reason they call them hydraulic, to take up the lash. If they are you have a mechanical problem or wrong oil.
