2014 "retro fit"
Has anyone tried to put a 2014 flhx front fender on a 2012 ultra? can any mods be made to make this work? I see HD changed how the mount the front fender...

They changed rather more than that! Your '14 bike has the latest 49mm forks, which are significantly fatter than the 41mm forks on a '12. Anything can be made to work, with a little effort, but I suspect the gap between the fork legs, where the fender mounts, will decide how easy that may be. A friend with an earlier bike, or your local dealer's showroom, should help answer that query, aided by a tape-measure! It'll be interesting to see if anyone has tried it.
Front fender on the Rushmore's is narrower, to fit between the 49mm forks, and I believe the mounts are a bit different.
CAN it be done? Yes, with enough patience, torches and a welder.
I could make a Peterbilt fender fit... but not easily.
