After 200 mile run and several stops and restarts after a 2 hour stop wouldn't start. Turning over well. Spark strong but plugs were dry. lots of fuel. Took out fuel pump assembly. Inlet filter looked clean. test run pump lots of pressure. Put it back together and it started 5 times then it wouldn't.
got codes p0505 loss of idle speed control and after started that had gone and got b1005 fuel levelsending unit high which was probably me disturbing the fuel level float, this also didn't come back after it was canceled.
looked in air inlet at idle sort control which seemed to be operating as described.
had something close on my 07,turned out the red locktite on the fps adjuster melted and the screw backed out a little, threw the lose of idol control code.i finally took it to a dealer that (as rare as it is) has a good tech he put on their digital technician to reset the screw.
don't know what FPS is not where to find it to check.
interesting re quick release at base of tank. I detached fuel pipe from common rail. once just what was in pipe came out then another time it kept flowing and I could have emptied the tank. I guess the flow was syphoning through the pump.
Took the convoluted tube and the bottom connector out to see if it was holed. All seemed ok do put it back, had to remove pump assembly to get hold of tube. Re assembled and when I remembered to connect the fuel pipe back to the tank, bike started and has repeatedly started after short and long intervals.
Not sure what I did that fixed it. Almost need it to fail again so I can focus on the connection to see if that's the cause.
Many thanks for your thoughts.
My 07 had a starting issue. The ground wire going to the frame was not torqued down to spec and it came loose. Tightened it down and never had another starting problem
after 3 days and 12 starts hit the road. 9 miles and 2 restarts engine cut and wouldn't start.
detached and re attached fuel pipe seemed to be fuel at this point. didn't re start. breakdown mechanic checked fuse also removed system relay and tapped it on ground.when checking spark engine started
