Trying to decide on a model # for the 444 that is best for me on my FLHTK .
I see these come in various lengths and a standard or heavy duty spring rate . I am 250 , wife is 120 . Was leaning towards a 13.5 in heavy spring . But I don't want to stiff , I ride 60-70 % alone . Question for everyone is there a general rule or a table to look for a appropriate shock ? Looked on the Progressive website but I didn't see any help on it .
I tried the light spring and it would bottom with 2 up and loaded.
I now have the heavy spring, it may ride a little rough single but doesn't bottom hardly. I came from a adventure bike and value handling over comfort.
I just replaced my stock air shocks (11 inch) with 12 inch 444s. I went with the heavy springs because i'm 250 lbs. They are so much better than stock. I rode those stock shocks for 35k miles. I sure wish I had changed them out many miles ago.
I can afford the 444 by progressive also considering the adjustable premium that H-D sells , can not go over the 500 dollar budget right now . So Ohlins and all the others are not important to me right now . Just wanna get these airbags off the bike as soon as I can......
