Might want to check your rear pads. I got about 10K out of mine.
One side usually wears more than the other and the leading edge wears more than the trailing edge so make sure you get a good look at both pads from both ends.
If it does not stop when you apply the rear break it could be the rear most muffler mount. The rubber against the metal will squeak if it is not tight enough.
The nuts on my thunderheader do come lose sometimes and make noise...IF YOUR BIKE HAS EVER BEEN ATACKED BY A PRESSURE WASHER...
WATER CAN BE FORCED BETWEEN REAR BEARINGS AND KILL BEARINGS AS IT COMES OUT WHEN YOU RIDE...
I have an 08 Street Glide and mine makes a noise like you are describing too.. It definately goes with wheel speed. Applying the brakes changes nothing, sounds like it's louder on the left side (pulley side), kind like a whirring noise. Mine dosen't do it cold as well. Not really loud but enough to drive me crazy! I'm taking it in next week to let the stealer check it out.. Wish me luck! Good luck with yours...
sounds like rear brake dragging. Can't swear to it cause I'm not there.
But few here know how a disk system actually works but then again neither do
most dealer techs.
If you got an 08 with ABS most likely need to go to shop for a reasonably
permanent fix.
But for now try this.
Get a can of aerosol brake kleen. Remove the right saddle bag.
Liberally spray the rotor down through the pads, flushing away a build up
of brake dust. wipe the streaks off the rotor with a rag.
Put bag on and test ride.
If no squeak ok, but will probably return.
I don't know if you can collapse the pistons on HD'S new ABS without causing
other problems.
But if you can (or a dealer) pull the caliper, collapse the pistons, coat the BACK
of the pads with anti brake squeal compound.reassemble.
This helps the pads pull further away from rotor when you let off the brake.
course there could be a different problem that also needs to be addressed.
Did nayone get an answer on this yet. \\; Mine is doing the same thing and I dont think its brakes. \\; If it were it would go away when you apply them. \\; I checked the tension on my belt and I dont think that is it either. \\; Anyone solve the problem?
 \\;
My rear brake has been squealing a ton too. \\; My guess is that the pads are cheap cause I haven't glazed them. \\;
My solution was to spray a little WD-40 on the pads directly.
Ps - that was a joke for those who didn't get it. \\; As you know, spraying WD-40 on your brake pads can cause serious injury and possibly death. \\; Please remember to remove your maxi fuse before doing anything to your bike.

Mine started doing this as well...the whirring sound...mine is louder on the right side tho...I just changed my rear tire a week ago...hoping it's not the wheel bearings making the noise.....
My '07 RKC has done this in the past and started doing it again last Sunday. \\; It was very hot outside and my tires were so hot that I couldn't hold my hand on them for more than a second or two. \\; After my bike cools down the sound goes away. \\; Try putting a little HD PolyOil on the outside edge of your belt and lubing your muffler hanger bushings. \\; I haven't figured out exactly what causes this noise but it has something to do with the heat.
