Default Quick question about windshields...

Right now I have a 8.5 Klock Werks shield. I like it, but around 80mph or so my glasses start to get pushed around and messes with my eye sight. I don't mind getting wind in my face...I think that's why most of us have bikes, but when it swirls around and messes with my glasses so I cant see that turns in to a problem. I am wondering if I used a short windshield (I know not everyone likes them) would the wind hit me in the face and not swirl? Would the swirling be worse? Another reason why I like the idea of the shorter windshield is so I can push my Bars forward about an inch or so, right now the clutch cable is hitting my KW shield so I cant move my bars forward anymore. (18' LA Choppers Twin Peaks if that matters to anyone)

Sorry about beating a dead horse, I know there are windshield questions aplenty around here.

What bike you riding? A lot of the windshields with recurves work really well. Pushes the air up and over so you can use a lower shield. The Klock werks comes back some too, so the other shields should give you more room for your bars. Try LRS, Fastaire, Freedom, Clearview. I have a LRS 8" recurve on my 2013 Street glide with 12" Twin peaks and like it a lot.

I went from the stock SG shield to the LRS 7" recurve to the 8.5" Klock Werks shield. My glasses shook all the time with the stock shield. The 7" LRS stopped the glasses shake about 50% of the time. The 8.5" Klock Werks stopped the glasses shake about 90% of the time. I still get the glasses shaking with strong gusty wind at hwy speed and anytime im riding at 85mph or faster. I did add the fork mounted deflectors last summer and that stopped all the glasses shake but I did not like the increased heat when riding around town at 35mph to 50mph. Even on the hwy at 70mph I could feel the increased temps due to the air flow restriction with the fangs. I removed the fangs after about 2 weeks and just decided to live with the 10% of the time that the glasses shake.

Sorry should have mentioned that, I'm riding a 2011 Ultra Classic, and I'm 6 foot 2 inches.

What are the deflectors you are talking about?

I have a 10" clear LRS. It eliminates all buffeting except when my feet are on the highway pegs above 70. I also have a 7" dark. I think an 8.5" recurve would be perfect. I'm 6' so you may want a 10".

I also found that a tank lift helped some too.

Yup, the fangs took care of the buffeting for me. Some may not like the look but I like being able to see.

Yes the fangs work great and really eliminate the buffeting for sure! If you don't live in an extremely hot area the fangs are golden. I live in Texas and 105 is the normally temp in July and August and just felt they worked to well for me. But there are others that live in hot areas and don't mind the fangs.
