had my 07 Road King on the highway today for the first time andfu@# thesteering is dangerously sensitive!
my first guess is the head bearing torque was missed during set up, I did the reduced reach wild one 508 handle bar swap, any comments.
What do you mean by "sensitive" Gary?
If I felt there was a problem with the steering I would call the dealer immediately and have them come pick it up and be checked out.
I am still blown away at how stable and easy my RK is to ride. It is rock solid and very well balanced in the front-end.
Never had this problem on my '06. I had the stock bars for 4k miles and my new bars for 4k miles and no problems. I'd head back to the dealer and get it checked out.
I haven't noticed any "twitchyness" on my 06 RK Custom. I presently have the Wild One 518s (Chubby-II); it's very stable with them at any speed, and was, as well, with the stock "wheelbarrow" bars. First thing I noticed was how much more solid it felt after my Dyna Superglide. As advised, check the tire pressure & follow-up with the dealer ASAP.
I just switched to 518's on my '06 RKC and it is very stable. I read one article about rotating the bars up or down too much could make a difference especialy at slow speeds. But since the dealer did the work it's on them to check it all out. I know that my bike seems like a completely different bike to me now ( I have about 300 miles on the new bars)but I think after a little more saddle timeI will get used to them. Hope this helps
I had a similar situation with my bike after I took delivery. It was almost like the steering would move in small jerky increments. I took it back and they lubed the neck bearings. Smooth as silk now and it's been roughly 7k miles since then.
