For those who own a touring model like the Elcectra or Street Glide do you do a lot of long rides? Is it your weekend getaway bike or a daily commuter?
Both...I will commute on it but riding the freeways here in Houston can be hairy at times. I prefer long day or weekend rides but occasionally pull the week to 10 day ride.
I try to ride a long vacation trip each year. Last year was from NC, to VA/PA and south. Ended up hitting ten states, plus DC for Rolling Thunder. Great time.
Now that I am in Kali, I was hitting 200 miles a day sometimes just to go from my place, to work, to my ex's place for the night. I don't mind it, but the 15/215 traffic after I get off work was not always fun.
This years trip is Sturgis. Leaving Escondido, heading to Phoenix for a short factory tour, then camping at the grand canyon, then up to Sturgis, and hitting Vegas on the way back. Should be nice...
I plan to but I just don't have the time and funds right now. I don't ride during the week because and on call and need to be able to get to the phone. Also where I live commuting just sucks. I owe 4 more years on my house then i should have more time and funds to hit the road.
My Heritage is the commuter bike. The Limited does everything else. We try to get away most every weekend, but have at least one 10 + day trip per summer as well.
