Default Odd kickstand angle

I have an '06 FLHT with a stock height suspension. The lean angle of my bike on the kickstand is fine, however I find it odd that the kickstand basically swings out to 90 degrees or so from the frame. I've almost had the bike roll forward off the stand twice now! It seems that if the stand swung another 10 degrees or so that it would be far more stable. Am I all alone on this?

It just seems that way. It's far more secure than it looks.

Spend some time on the floor of your garage, with someone you trust sitting on the bike. You'll see that it's a remarkably solid assembly, and that you've got nothing to worry about.

I don't understand the part of your statement where you say it's "almost" rolled forward off the stand. Do you mean the bike rolled forward after putting it on the stand until the catch caught it?

If the stand is extended correctly, there is no way in hell that it will roll off.

When I extend mine, I push it forward and keep my foot on it with forward pressure as I lean it on the stand. Never had a near fall yet.

You can set it on the stand, and shove it all over the garage and the stand will not fold unless you take the weight of the bike off of it.

you aren't alone in freaking out, but to be honest, your bike did not 'almost roll off the stand'. it just can't. not unless you try really, really, hard to not engage the stand when you get off. there is a very secure locking tab on the top of the stand, when the bike leans over, tab a inserts into slot b, and all is right with the world.

If your bike rolled off the jiffy stand twice, you either did not have the jiffy stand in the right position or the jiffy stand is broke.
Set your bike on the jiffy stand and stick your head under and look how it is designed. No way for it to roll forward.
I agree it may look funny looking at it and I have had people tell me my bike looks like it is going to fall. I just
say "It's a Harley thing."

Default modified mine

I didnt like the way mine sat on the stand, it would roll a bit forward and the leg would be pointing backwards a good amount, bought a new dog for the top of it and it did the same thing. so I took it to work welded one side up and built it out then machined that side so it looked like it was made that way even though it was about a good 1/8 inch wider. then mached the oposite side down till the width was same as the original width. now the stand always stays at a 90 degree angle when on the stand. i didnt like the old way it dragged back and torqued it up as the bike leaned on it.

That's a great solution for a problem that didn't exist!

Guess all the mods people do to their Harley's are for things that didn't exist either

I honestly had never noticed the little locking tab. Thanks for pointing that out to me!
