Default sore arss

Took a 150 mile trip over the weekend and my butt was screamin after an hour in the saddle[:@]. The seat on this ultra isn't as comfy as it looks, or maybe it's because I haven't riden in twenty years. The ole lady on the other hand had no problem. I either need a different seat or more riden time .

Probably a little of both!
Never been on an Ultra stock seat, but I doubt they are as comfortable as a Sundowner!

I rode about 160 miles on my Ultra Sunday. Have original seat on it and works great for me. Maybe just need to get used to riding again. Shouldn't take to long.

I have an 06 that I have to retrain my a$$ to get used to it every season.. You will get used to it in time. Start with short trips and the get longer.. It will help.. Did for me.. I have a 1200 mile round trip coming up the end of May.. Looking forward to it..

Go borrow a stock sportster and ride it 300 miles, then get back on your ultra, there now your seat is more comfortable and it didnt cost you a dime!

On offense, but you shouldn't have to do that. I've got several friends with UC's and they weren't that happy with the stock seats either. On of them bought that fancy air bladder seat that HD sells. He says he's happy with it but does spend a fair amount of time altering the air pressures in the individual bladders to change the pressure points on his **** when things start getting uncomfortable. He let me try it at one point and personally, I wasn't impressed with it.

I'm not familiar with all options available out there but I've got lots of experience with one of them, the Russell Day Long saddle (www.day-long.com). I've had one on the last three motorcycles I've owned and the days of the burning butt have been 98% eliminated. Some days you just can't get comfortable no matter what you're sitting on. The Day Long saddle has two down sides as far as I'm concerned. First,it's expensive. I checked and a fully tricked out UC saddle is going to cost you a bit over $1000. However you can get it done for significantly less than that. I think it's totally worth the money but not everyone does. Second, you have to send in your stock seat pan for conversion. That means you contact themand get assigned a build date. As that date approaches, you send them your seat, they convert it and send it back to you. For me, that process has proven to take about a month on average. Since you don't have a seat any more, you're won't be able to ride unless you can find another one to use in the mean time. That's probably less of an issue for Harley riders and it would be for most other manufacturers. They do offer a one day ride in service if you can work that out. I used it on my second conversion. I had a trip to California scheduled anyway and simply rode in that morning and rode out by 4pm that afternoon on my new seat. On the plus side, the Day Long saddle is customized to "your" specifications. That's weight, height, and inseam measurements as well as taking into account how you sit on the bike. The web site can give you clarifications on that. I've been sitting on Day Long conversions since 1988 and simply won't consider anything else.

FWIW!

Good luck & Ride Safe,
Steve R.

PS: I'm not affiliated with them in any way. I'm just a "very" satisfied customer. Oh, one other thing. If you can make use of the one day ride in service, they're located in northern California up near Mount Shasta. It's a beautiful place to visit while you're there.

You'll see many on this forum recommending aftermarket seats. My preference is the Mustang Regal Touring, my wife preferred the stock seat's rear cushion over the 'stang's, but after I sent it back to them for softening, she was fine with it.
