To this day, I haven't suffered this dilemma cuz I've been looking and observing at my buddy's RGS on our rides together. Truly a nice looking bike these days.

Can't afford one due to Child Support payments. 5 more years of this non-sense crap then I'm done. Dilemma may make it's comeback, slap me in the face by telling me to go out and buy one. I'm hoping for a RG Ultra in 2021 or 2022.

Good Luck,

Thorey

Obviously same bikes, different fairing. The biggest reason I chose the RGS is the dash on the SGS seemed too close and felt a little claustrophobic.
I went from a RK to a RG so I can't comment on the frame vs handlebar mount debate.
The stock windshield sucks on both bikes. I am still experiencing what I feel is too much wind with a 12" Wind Splitter on the RGS so I am going to try a 15" Klock Works Touring shield. It took me several shields on my RK till I got it dialed in.
Good luck on your decision.

I have owned both.
All not true.

They are the SAME chassis, so how could it handle better?

I agree they ride good, but not as good as a Limited with Premium full length shocks...

The batwing doesn't vibrate.

The only difference is where the fairing is mounted, and under the above logic, it could be said that since the frame is carrying all that weight above, and wide, that the Road Glide doesn't handle as well in tight situations.

And that would also be BS.

They're both great bikes, ride what you like, and I guess tell yourself whatever you need to to justify it.

You already have a Rushmore bike. Ride the sh*t out of it and then trade it in for an RGS in a few years. Why take a beating on your new SG? It's not like you're trading up from a Sporty.

Call it a placebo affect I guess, lol and I am not trying to "justify" a purchase I am expressing my opinions and what are my thoughts. Now grant it that both frames are the exact same thing, yes indeed. But IMO the RG rides better. My buddy who purchased a CVO for 37k cash decided to let it go for a RGS, now that speaks volume. I have also come acrossed several bikers who state that the RG ride better than the SG, also my INDY HD mechanic seems to think so as well since he own a RG as well. Again, it all could be placebo affect but hey, after all this is a hobby, right? Well, an addictive hobby that is..

All 2014 touring bikes are Rushmore. If yours is a 2014 SGS, then it too is a Rushmore. Meaning it has all the Rushmore features introduced last year.

I had a 14 Limited and loved it. Owned it for 3 months and then saw the new CVO Roadglides Ultra. Test rode one and the hunt was on. Picked mine up December 26 and haven't looked back since.

This statement invalidates all the others you've made.

SGS is harley's top seller for a reason ( actually its top selling bike in the world regardless of brand) . I like ( demoed RGS) both but prefer SGS. Buy what you like but do it with some thought.
P.S.
No, I don't have the Rushmore edition, just the SGS..
FYI...14 SGS... all are 'rushmores'. All touring bikes starting in 2014 are all rushmores.
