How often should I put my bike on the battery tender? I will be riding it so it want just be sitting for a long time without being turned on. But I am away from home and don't have a power plug near to plug it directly into. Do they even make a power supply I can plug into that cordless?
Hayrey now sells a battery pig tail for the battery tender connection, that tells you if it needs connected. It has a voltage sensor of some type at the end. When the battery is in need of connecting to a tender it flashes a red LED.
If it's warm out and you're riding it regularly, it doesn't need plugged in. However if you're not sure when you'll ride again, plug it in. I've had batteries last well beyond the typical life expectancy. I believe it's the tender.
I do the same as Dickey...when it's in the garage and done for the day the tender goes on it. Tender is always plugged into the wall and it's on a shelf next to the bike so when I park it I just reach down and plug in the pig tail.
Using the tender all the time takes the guess work out. I've been through 2 batteries when I used it occasionally and winter months. None sine I've started using it
