Default increased vibration progressive touring link

Just had progressive touring link installed along with new front motor mount and everything laser aligned. Took care of my high speed weave but now I get some serious vibration from 1300 to 1700 rpm. Not that I ride in that range but I hit it on the way down to idle. Smooth at idle and above that range. Why only at those rpms do I get bad vibration? Is that normal with these stabilizers? Did I have that before and just didn't notice it with the stock set up?

There are a bunch of old threads around where people mention the link causing a little more vibration. Not a lot of vibration but some.

Proper Engine/Trans alignment and the condition of the rear motor mounts are critical in this application.
If anything is off, or worn badly, or if the link needed to be forced on, you'll get some vibration as a result.

I put a Touring Link on my 2007 FLHTC, absolutely no new vibration from it, sure made the bike stable and got rid of the bagger wobble! From all the threads I read, and I read all of them I could find, it seems that if a rear link causes a bad vibration, that means you have a sloppy front or rear mount. To me that seems like the only explanation for some people getting the extra vibs from installing one whereas most don't. My bike has about 27k miles and has all the original factory mounts.

When I jacked up my bike to put the link on, I raised the rear tire off the ground first to check for play in the rear, I had a pretty good amount of slop compared to a non-rubber mounted bike. I figured I was gonna get bad vibs and would have to replace some things, but I got lucky, or my slop is within spec? heheh Only thing I can say is that HD should have had these on there from the factory, or retro fitted them on a recall. But we all know how that goes..........

Also, when I put mine on, I followed the directions, the mount bolted on and lined up perfectly with no moving things around or adjusting the link. I think if you had to pry things around or adjust the length of the link to get the bolts on, that would be an indicator of worn parts needing to be replaced?

The Indy who did the work is a reliable mechanic around these parts and he spent a good amount of time investigating and checking everything before installing. He has installed a few of these before and did so only at my request. He also happens to be a friend of mine. He first checked the front end and found it to be too tight so adjusted properly. Interesting fact is a too tight front end can make it hard to get out of a weave (rear travel cause) and a too loose front end can make it hard to get out of a wobble (front end shake). Mine was definitely the weave and I could feel it over 85 and in high speed turns only. Also could shake the bars around 75 and stimulate it. Had my friend ride behind me and he could see it start in the back and move forward. He checked the rear and everything was tight so he installed the link at my request and aligned everything after replacing the front motor mount. One thing that has me concerned is the engine was shaking real bad at idle before (why we changed the mount, I had changed it only 3000 miles ago for the same reason) and he suspected My crank might of shifted...but It runs great and the shaking at idle now is much better. After bringing it back and showing him the shake between 1300 and 1700 we were both puzzled and he said i'm still not convinced that you don't have imbalance in the crank., so??? I'm going to take it for a long ride today and check performance again. 2007 Street Glide.

Ok, went on a weekend trip and the bike handles awesome with the link installed. No weave or wobble and high speed curves are fun again. The vibration slightly above idle doesn't bother me at all now because I go through that rpm range so fast up and down its hardly noticable. No increase in vibration at normal and above normal speeds and smooth at idle. It might be cam related in that I have a woods tw222 low end torque cam in it and when coming to a stop going through that rpm range I get a shudder that I think was always there but is now more noticeable with the link making a more solid rear mount.
