The open ones on my 14 are starting to corrode a bit, and that bothers me. There are a couple other posts on here about getting some black plastic plugs from an automotive store or hardware store and plugging them up. that is what I plan to do after removing and treating the corrosion.
I removed all my passenger hardware. I tapped all the holes, so they were clean. Then I ran a bolt in each hole covered in anti-seize to protect from corrosion. I went to my local hardware store that carries chrome bolts and found some chrome hole plugs. I sure they had black ones also.
I used, what we call, christmas tree plugs or trim plugs. There black in color. I got ones that would fit the diameter and then cut them down to fill and not bottom out. Looks way better and cleaner now then the rusting open holes
I just plugged mine after lowering board, never thought about a plate for total coverage. I guess that's what a CNC turret press is for. A plate with 2 chrome button heads......
