In the end here the question is did I mess it up? 2004 EGC, 25k miles.
Getting on the expressway didn't realize the throttle lock was binding. Never even used it. Twice I rolled on the throttle grip and it shot to 7K+ rpm but only for 1-2 seconds. Since then I've never looked at the oil gauge so much. Before this I know that my gauge was at 32 cold idle and about 5 at warm idle. 32# warm at cruising speeds. I know it ran higher at cold cruising but I don't remember what. I'm now seeing 45-55# cold cruising RPM. Takes about 8-10 miles for it to drop to the warm 32 & warm idle of 5-10 which seems like a real long time to me. Runs and sounds great though. So your thoughts? Thanks for any help. I don't know, it all just seems too high for too long a distance to me
I'm wondering if I should consider changing the oil & filter, or oil pressure sensor, or oil pressure relief valve
It has a built in rev limiter, the gauge might have looked like it went that high but I doubt the motor hit 7k rpm's. If it sounds and runs ok ride it. I would check the tensioners soon, mine were shot at 30k miles on my 99 EG.
