I have an 09..it is really a great machine.

the new frame and 6 gallon tank are great.
Mine is a 96"---it works for me with the 6 speed.( the 103" was optional)

brembos and abs are fantastic- abs is really a must

there have been recalls on the front tank mount and the rear brake switch- also the weep hole on the swingarm needs to be drilled larger.....other than that really really good.
i came from a 95 FLHTC- also also other evos, shovels and pans

The tranny bearings had some issues.I had a failure at 17K.

Even with that problem,I still love my bike.

Many 09's had problematic wheel bearings. Nothing major, coupled with what mkguitar added.

15000 miles isn't much for a 2009, don't know what price you are being offered. I have an '09 Ultra that I bought with 11700 mi from the original owner (whom I knew). He didn't have any issues and kept the bike clean and I got many extras incl the Zumo 550. I've put about 1,000 on it all good. I really love the changes to the '09 and up tourers. I had already put away 1/2 the cash for a new one but couldn't pass on this deal. Not owing anything I figured if something does become a problem or I want to go Stage 2 103" I'm still way ahead of what I'd be in for on a new one. I know the compensators on BT's since the 96" and 103" came out has been a problem. Looking at the Baker compensator if I ever need to replace it. I appreciate posts and info regarding recalls / weak points. If you are getting deal on a clean, well loved unit it is a great distance machine.

Thanks for the input I'll be looking at it tomorrow he's asking 14500 for it and it seems like he's willing to negotiate

That's not bad it's $600 more than I paid, book values vary a bit by source. Try an Get him down another $500.

hmm.

I paid $15K for my 09 flhtc with 5000 miles IN 2010. sec/cruise/abs & paint.

It was 6 months old

price check KBB.com- fair private party price a little more that halfway between trade in and retail values

That is not many miles for an '09. I had 65K on my '09 Ultra when I traded it on a new Rushmore model in 2013. I had very few problems with it and would recommend that model/year.
