Recently purchased a 2006 Electra Glide Classic and have one interesting question. When riding at speed and more so when accelerating there a tinie sounding noise coming from the left front side of the bike. Any ideas on what this could be or is this normal.
It is pretty hard to diagnose a noise without actually hearing it. But, what you describe could vary well be something as innocent as a loose primary chain which is hitting the inside of the primary cover or possible the case itself. If it has been doing it very long there will probably be some marks on the metal. If you have the tools to remove the outside primary cover, that is a good place to start looking for the noise.
Thanks for the replies. It gets worst when you roll on the gas etc. More like a vibration. Bringing the bike to my shop tomorrow and will have a better look etc.
I owned a Harley back in the late 70's early 80's when everything rattled, leaked and vibrated.
normal. mine does it when i ride. then let sit. then start riding again in 10 min or so. mostly when the oil gets real hot and thins out. doing it since almost new. these engines make lots of noises. big loud clunks and detonation is not cool though. what you are describing is not that. prob a heat sheild. sometimes i loosen the heat shield clamps, move them around a little and tighten back up and the sound goes away. weird stuff on harley,s. i learn to live with it. nature of the beast. drove me nuts at first.
