Default Hidden antenna install - 2015 FLHXS

I'm putting some pictures of the install process for a non-Harley, hidden antenna kit to help out anyone else that may make this same upgrade. It's a very simple process once you know where to place everything and what wires to splice into.

I bought the service manual so that I can look at the wiring diagrams to make sure that I splice into the correct wires. Once you remove the front of the fairing, you will see a large bundle of wires running into the back of the radio unit (red arrows in the second picture). Disconnect this from the radio, and then cut the wrap/tape holding the wires together.

With the tape removed, you will look for two thick, red and pink striped wires, and two thick black wires. The thick, red/pink wires bring power to the radio, and the two thick black wires are the ground wires. There are a total of 5 black wires, and two are thicker than the other 3. These two are the ground wires. The other red wires in this bundle are audio-in and microphone wires. All of these wires are thinner than the two red/pink wires. These red/pink wires are the thickest red wires in this bundle.

When you splice in the power and ground wires from the power box, use one of the thick, red/pink wires, and one of the thick, black wires. It doesn't matter which one of the two in each pair that you use. Each pair are spliced from a single wire that eventually goes back to the battery. My antenna kit came with two splice connectors that I used for this install. You can see these in the first picture. Once you have spliced the wires, wrap up this bundle with the original tape or some electrical tape.

The first attached picture has red arrows pointing to the thick, red and pink striped wire. That is the hot wire that the red wire from the power box is spliced into. The black wire from the power box is spliced into a thick, black wire.

That's basically it. The rest of the blue, antenna wire is run along the inside of the front of the fairing and connected to the free ends that you see in the pictures. You also replace the stock antenna cable with the one running from the power box. (You don't have to actually remove it from the bike, you can just unplug it, plug in the new one, and zip tie the old one down somewhere out of the way).

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I wanted to post this up to save someone who plans this same install the $60 on the service manual.
