hey guys I did some searching and I'm posting this thread to get an idea of what to go with. I'd hate to buy something and not be happy with the outcome on it.... I have been looking at a few different brands but ultimately I want a solid sound. currently the set up I have the stock header and some 4" slip ons, but will eventually go with fishtails (more than likely with baffles cause I don't like the sound of "slap back" between shifts or when I let go of the throttle.)
I have narrowed it down to header sets from Samson, bassani, and vance& hines, but if there is something that you have had good experiences with, let me know.
I'm going to assume that this is for the 08RK in you sig pic. Like suggested above, the Cobra headers are very under rated. Their fit and chrome quality is as good as anyone's. Also look at Freedom Performance. They make 2 styles of headers for your bike. They have the classic style where the rear header exits to the left and the Right Side Tuck and Under that is the same style header that fits the newer model bikes. I'm running Freedom Performance headers and I'm very pleased with the quality.
Im going to go with B&E true dual kit. Its $150 shipped. It uses part of your stock headers but replaces the Y split. Fullsac makes one too but it more $$$ .
I opted for pieces that use the factory heat shields, because it's the heat shields that you see and the HD stuff is quality.
The pipes I got are from v-twin manufacturing. True duals in chrome (which discolors from heat but the factory shields hide that) well made although fitment wasn't 100% perfect but also not a problem for install and not noticable after, and very well priced at under $200. Granted mine are for the 2014+ but they make them for your year as well.
If you have and like the look of the factory shields, I'd say it's something to consider.
I've got Bassanni's power curve true dual set up. It really sounds good, barks when you want it to but that "power curve" behind the rear Cyl can be brutal on your right leg heat wise.
U can get cobras for 300 shipped.. They all do the same thing
where did you find that price, im not too good at shopping on line....

what is the pricing on these? I keep finding prices that range in $300 difference
S&S Power tune duals. the heat shields look like the stock harley ones do. fit and finish is excellent. gives the look of true duals with the performance benefits of an x pipe or crossover style. they are a little more pricey than some of the others listed though....just over $400
