It's been a while since we have had the time but that's the way we used to tour. We were good for about 10 days the. We needed a hotel, hot tub and laundry. Lol

This is a discussion we had today, not sure how we could pack enough stuff to actually camp. We used to spend every weekend when the kids were young at a lake or campground somewhere. Short of trailering the bike not sure how it could work. My wife so much crap for a day trip, a weekend would be crazy.
Looking forward to seeing other replies

Absolutely LOVE camping from the bike. If you are careful and realistic in how you pack, you can be quite comfortable with what you carry. Might I suggest you leave the tent at home and explore the use of a hammock and a tarp for sleeping. A smaller soft sided cooler can keep perishable food items cold for a couple of days if you freeze some water bottles. And then you have water to drink too.

When i got my first harley in 2002, we would camp with no tent, just a sleeping back on the ground, but i was younger and having a blast. Don't know how mosquitos didn't eat us alive. I remember riding my soft tail standard with firewood on the back. Nowadays i love hotel camping. I like a bed, nice shower, and jacuzzi at a hotel. But i have been thinking a lot about camping. REI sells lots of backpacker gear and if you have the investment to make they have lightweight small tents and sleeping pads that are awesome, but its a big investment for the right gear that i would want at this point

Leaving on June 8th on a 3500 mile trip to the Dragon and D.C. We are taking tents and sleeping bags, planning on tenting every other night or so.

Me and the OL bike camped for years, starting in the mid 70's, just whatever we could pack on the bike at first then in '02 got the UltraClassic, had a big old homebuilt Harbor Freight/Sears car topper trailer we towed behind the bike.
OL had breast cancer surgery 2 years ago and it caused serious nerve damage to her right side, upper body neck area. She cannot ride more than a few miles anymore.
The good news is she is a cancer survivor.

when I was young I bike camped a lot.

Now old and the ground is hard as heck !!

Hammocks and tarps work well as long as there are trees, we have tied between bikes with limited success.

Fire to cook with and stores are everywhere to stock up for the nite.
