On June 1st last year I crashed my purchased new 05' Ultra on i-40 near Gallup NM. My rear tire blew out. I was towing a Roll-A-Home trailer and on cruise control at 65 mph. See my old avatar. My helmet probably saved my life. I sustained some broken ribs and collar bone and MAJOR road rash.
Since then I've been thinking about a trike since i'm going on 60 years old.
But the hell with it. I can still stand so i'll get a trike when i'm dead.
Last weekend I picked up a new 2015 Road Glide Special from Fort Washington Harley in Washington D.C. Amber Whiskey is the color. Funny, orange has always been my favorite color. My last two Harley's have been two toned: Black and Chrome so I decided to shake it up a bit this time.
I am amazed in the handling difference between a Bat Wing Fairing Bike and a Frame mounted Fairing Bike.
Got a pretty good end of the year deal too!
Of course I had to add highway pegs and a cup holder...
I'm so happy! Pics coming..
P.S. This is the first bike I've ridden since my crash! I was nervous about it until I left the parking lot to the highway.
congrats on the new bike and recovery, I'm over the bridge up north of prince Frederick near breezy point. i run down your way a lot. i used to go to the new york Chinese buffet but haven't gone in a while. that's where we do a lot of shopping instead of going to Waldorf or Annapolis. traffic is easier running down 4. nice area for sure. when i can't maneuver the bike any more, im going on 63, i think i'll trade my 2013 flhtk for a Ural with a side car. they look like they are a hoot. we'll have to get together some time and take a ride around some of the back roads toward point lookout. stay safe.
My wife cried when I fried one up for a test ride after my 6th surgery from my accident. It did take a little time for the jitters to go but the knees in the breeze is where it is. I could have done without the crying though. Kinda ruined the day.
