I have a set of V&H Dresser Duals. Sound great to me...But, I have a penchant for modifying something. I pulled the baffles out of these duals and thought to myself..."What would happen if I cut the venturi end off the baffle (end closest to engine) Slid a thin walled pipe over the first 1/3 of the baffle (again end closes to engine) tacked it in place and rewelded the venturi back on?
Has anybody done this? If not, what would be your expectation of the outcome as far as sound, fuel management issues, etc. and please back it up with some mechanical knowledge.
Ok, so the request for mechanical knowledge comes across a bit douchey. Sorry. Just didn't want a bunch of speculation. I can conjure up that on my own quite nicely.
I'm not trying to come across the wrong way here but I'd think you would have asked this question before you performed the modification. But now that you've done it, you would now the expert on this subject. Also, what slips on did you do the modification to?? I didn't think the V&H dresser duals had baffles in the headers.
Ok, just some miscommunication here. I haven't done anything yet. I was cleaning and polishing and decided to remove the two screws that hold the end caps on my V&H slip ons. I pulled the end cap out and of course the baffle came with it. This is where I pondered the "What if..."
Do you have a picture of said baffles? I know V&H have both an open baffle (cheese grater straight thru) and a quiet baffle (half wrapped, and the end near the motor is capped to force thru several smaller holes.)
