Bike has run perfectly untill a couple of weeks ago, then I noticed a ping (sounds like front cylinder). I notice it in 4th around 50mph if I hit the throttle and 5th when I whack the throttle. It just so happens that thos started the day after I changed from Harley oil and filter to a very popular synthetic oil and a K&N Filter. Bike runs great other than that. Couldnt be a lubrication issue rather than a ping could it?
Any ideas?
Did you change your MAP? If not, by changing the air filter; you just made the A/F ratio very lean. That is what is cuasing your ping IMHO.
More air in; means you have to give her more fuel.
Warranty baby. Take it to the dealer. See what they come up with. Hopefully it is something as simple as a bad tank of gas, or a remap. Awsome looking bike, btw.
Switching from winter gas to summer gas as required by the EPA right now. Unless the ping gets too bad wait til mid april and see if your computer does not correct itself. Assuming your bike is mapped correctly in its current config.
What is this computer self-correction you speak of?
