Default Heated grip question

I have a 2013 FLHTK. I want to change the heated grip for non heated. I f I am reading the service manual correct I have to disconnect the wires inside the fairing to get the grips off. I tried to remove the left grip but could not get it completely off because of the lack of slack in the wiring. I do not want to cut the wires in case I want to replace the grips later. Anyone know if I am going have to remove the entire wire harness that runs from the fairing to the bars?

Yes, you will have to remove the fairing. There are actually 2 plugs associated with the left grip. One that sends power to the left grip and another that sends power from the left grip to the right grip. The right grip merely has a small connector that plugs into the end of the TBW assembly. It is easily accessed by popping off the grip end cap.

Correct. Just installed a set on my 14 Ultra a couple of months ago. I removed the outer fairing and removed the radio, then I was able to access the oval opening in the center of the bars. It was a little tough to figure out where to plug them in but that shouldn't be a problem on a remove.
