Hello everyone, I'm about to cross over from the Dyna side to the Touring side
and wanted to get your opinions on a couple of bikes. Been looking at a Street Glide
for a while and came across a used 2012 with only 950 miles on it for $15,500.00 OBO.
Been listed for a couple of weeks so I'm thinking it might go in the $14,500.00 range.
It already has 4 point docking hardware and std sissy bar. The other is a new 2015 Street Glide
Special totally stock for $23,300.00 drive out. I thought it sounded pretty good but wanted some feed back
both about the '12 and '15. Has there been any issues with the '12 year models ? Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Kevin B.
If you don't have any experience with a Street Glide or Electra Glide then I would recommend renting one for a day, or at least take one for an EXTENSIVE test ride. Too many people don't, only to find out after the fact that it is not what they expected... and end up with an expensive case of buyer's remorse!
For the two listed choices...I'd go for the '12 as you're literally getting a near-new ride at cheaper cost. Only perks w/'15 would be (1) new bike and (2) warranty...at + $7800 ($8800 if they take your 14.5K offer).
I would go for the used one in that scenario. I bought new and it was nice but you can find someone really low mile bikes for a fair price as you discovered. Just make sure the year has what you want and go for it. If you are financing the payment may be the same for new or used bike based on years of the loan if that is an issue.
The Rushmore is a better bike, ride them both, if you cant tell the difference, then buy the 12. The dealerships have really discounted pre Rushmores since there is a glut of them as trade-ins...
Maybe find a used 14-15?
I like my 2014 SGS better then my 09 SG, its a better bike. But the 09 was a great bike, the only reason I trades it in was of the miles on the 09. Yes the improvements on the 14 makes it better, but if you don't know you are not missing anything. I would go for the 12 SG very good price great bike and if you wanted to trade it in later and pay 14,500 I think you would get about 16,500 on a trade. So its a not brainer.
