I did the hardware store conversion a few years ago. I painted the bolt threads with a light coating of gasket sealer. That made them a little sticky so vibration would not make them loosen. Poor man's locktite sort of. Have never found any of the bolts loose.

So, there is no fix all for this except for me to check the bag once a week. I added the bolts when my last set of bags got stolen. Good luck all the way around for me as always.

Regardless, bolts are more secure than stock pins any day of the week.
Not busting your chops but your bad for letting them become loose. Have had them at least 5 years or since first hearing of them and have never come loose. I take mine off every time I give my bike a thorough wash which is too often.

As far as the Dsuz clip it is a definite weak point and have had mine split like rabbit ears and bent them back into place. It was at about that time I learned about Brukus. The saddlebag secure is not the only great product I have of theirs. Plus I like supporting an American entrepreneur as opposed to supporting a big box hardware store.

I'm a little paranoid of this happening, it's the only reason the Electra bag protectors are still on. If they pop loose they should just sit in there.

A couple of 5/16-18 extruded U-nuts, and a couple of 1-1/4" socket head screws in the same thread pattern will get the job done. About 5 bucks or less at the hardware store. Keep one of the dzus fasteners in each bag, replace the other one with the u nut and socket head screw. A drop of blue Loctite on the screw will keep it from backing out. You do not need to spend 40 or 50 bucks for somebody's re-labeled hardware package.

Interesting to hear one of these so called fool-proof, will never fall off security systems............fell off. Mind you in part due to inattention but the DZUS fastener, properly installed will never come loose. - its a good system when used correctly. It does concern me, just enough to make sure they engage and follow that up by a good hard tug on each one to be sure.

If you're really worried about it falling off, throw some purple locktite on there.

I replaced the DSUS on my King after the 1K service with the bolts. I noticed one of the DSUS pins was getting a little looser than the others, so I didn't take any chances.

Well took it into dealer so they could check it out and while they had my bike back in the shop the wife and I checked out some of the new street glides. I opened four bags and they all had metal washers, same material as pin between pin and rubber washer on bag. My bike never had these and I pointed it out to dealer and he looked at my bike and said yes you should have them on there and acted like I took them off! Wife was ready to lay his *** out! Lol so he says he will call Harley to see what they will do? I asked him to put them on so the bags don't fall off again and he tells me to go to parts desk and they are 6$ for 4! At this point I am ready to snap! On top of all they did my state inspection a month ago and the bags have not been off since, so how did they miss it then? I assume or hope they would have taken bags off to do brakes and tire?

5/16-18 wing bolts work perfectly. Don't need any tools to take the bags back off
