Retrofit ABS
Im regretting not holding out for an ABS bike. Mine is a 12 SG..
Has anyone put some thought into retrofitting ABS?
Im thinking control module, wheels, sensors.. not gonna be cheap unless you slowly source the used parts..
Just curious if anyone has really sat down and figured what it would take..

Yes, cheaper to trade!
You have parts cost of ABS pump, all new brake plumbing, maybe new main wiring harness, control module for ABS, bearings, multiple sensors, and probably at least a couple days labor.
If you want exact cost have at it!

Pump and control module are one unit..
I was looking for someone who actually spent some time researching.. not speculation.
$199 for pump control and hydraulic lines is not bad.. sensors are $70 + wheels (lots of take offs available).. thinking another $400 of stuff i dont know about (tray for the pump for example)
this may be doable if a person took his time buying carefully. Labor is free if you consider a project like this fun like I do.
Again if anyone has dug into this please chime in.. No disrespect Red/tosusteve but your response wasnt what I was looking for..

and then after you've got all the parts, you (probably) need to have the ecm flashed to recognize that it's got abs. good luck finding a dealer who'll do that for you.
abs wheels are no different than regular wheels. it is just the bearing and the wheel sensor that is different. tray for the pump is integrated into the frame, lots of guys with non abs are putting their air ride compressors in that location.

If you don't like the answers here sit down with your HD parts guy for a few hours. You can argue with him!
Better yet get yourself a parts catalog and research it yourself! Kinda like you didn't research buying ABS in the beginning vs non ABS...
