Default RE: HID vs Deer

I have used all kinds of deer whistles. One time a deer liked my whistle so much it ran along the side
of my bike . I couldnt believe it.

a good upgrade at a greta price,rallylights.com,7" round e-code headlight about 35$coupled with 80/100 watt h4 bulb about 10$,then upgrade passing lamps with 894 bulbs these are 37 watts veruses the stock 881 bulb at 27.5 watts.the e-code headlight is not dot but will draw less attention from leo than the aftermaket hid and puts the light were u need it around here leo is all over non stock hid.

Doesn't matter which bulbs or which set-up you install on the old gal, the deer are going to win everytime. Defensive driving and road-smarts are the name of the game. I once hit an aluminum step ladder lying in the middle of the highway at about 60 mph. Was doing 70 or so. Fu**ed my world UP for awhile.

Yes sir, E-Code is a fantastic light upgrade for the money. The bulbs may have a relatively short life compared to stock, but at that price you can afford to keep a couple spares on hand and still save over $500.00 VS HID. Glad you survived the deer hit. Defensive driving and not out riding your lights is a good approach, but sometimes the deer just come out of nowhere, they aren't always standing by the road looking in your direction with reflective eyes warning you of their presence.

I second the idea for louder pipes. I did an IB ride to El Paso last fall and all I saw on the ride back was tails as they ran away. Most of the time there were cars in front of me, and I could see the deer standing there in the car's headlights, but once I hit about 400 yards it was straight to the woods.
I did have a brighter bulb on that bike, but the stock one on my Ultra is brighter than that so I haven't changed it. More light is great, but loud pipes save lives.

If your bike is equipped with passing lights or spots, wire them so you can operate them with their own switch so they will stay on when you are on high beam, switch lets you turn them off if you feel you don't need them. This with and a inexpensive head light bulb replacement makes for a much improved, wide path of light. Large improvement, small cost.
