Please post your thoughts of the Tune Trapper after you have it installed. I have a Dakota Digital inside my fairing and it's OK. I'm only 20 miles from the major radio stations in my area and the reception on some stations leaves a lot to be desired. Considering going to the whip antenna on my tour pak.
Regards,
J.B.
JB...I just switched from the Dakota Digital antenna to the tune trapper antenna this winter and the results are MUCH MUCH better reception. It's still a radio signal and will fade in and out, but I never pulled in radio stations 50 miles away on the dakota digital antenna, but get strong reception from most radio stations in my area at that distance. I don't know if it's where you locate the antenna inside the fairing or what, but my buddy has the dakota digital in his roadglide off to the side, and gets real good reception with his...unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work as well inside the electraglide fairing; probably due to electrical interference or something.
anyway, I sold my dakota unit to a roadglider for $25.00 and bought my new tune trapper for $29.00...and I'm real happy I did.
GOTTA GET ME SOME TUNES. THAT $1000 STEREO FOR THE BIKE IS GOOD, BUT NOT FOR THAT AMOUNT. MP3 IS ABOUT IT THESE DAYS. CAN'T BELIEVE I GOTS TO UPGRADE THEM SPEAKERS AFTER THAT PRICE. THATS A MUST HAVE COMMIN SOON.....
If you really want a bargain, just buy an IPOD like Mp3 player, run the headphone to RCA cord into the fairing, and zip tie mount a pyramid AMP/EQ to the top of the glove box...then buy any halfway decent car stereo speakers and you can rock out.
I'm also running a Sansa e260 Mp3 player with 4 gig flash drive and an additional 2gig microSD expansion chip. [6gig total]. http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Cata...3_Players.aspxThis also has a built in FM tuner. I hardly listen to anything but my 'ipod' now...thats why I just laid out what you'd need to do it quick and dirty...This way you could keep your glove box too.
Thanks for the input. I really don't want to put a whip antenna back on the bike. I like the clean look so much without one. For $29 I just might have to give the Tune Trapper a try. I was out riding yesterday and was starting to loose signal within a mile of my house - 20 miles from the main city at best.
