I have been keeping my brother-in -law,s 08 glide in my basement since november and i don,t think he will be driving it any time soon so every now and then i take it out for a ride to keep things loose. when i put it away i always spray storage oil in the cyl. to keep things lubed. Well.. run it today, was squirting oil in plug hole when the little red squirt tube came out and into the cyl. of course the piston was down. Now what. Visions of a tear down seemed likely. So I made a hook out of a piece of stiff small wire and after almost an hour i managed to hook it and pulled it through the plug hole. next time i will defenatly hold the tube. Almost an expensive lesson learned.

LOL!
I did the same when using brakleen to clean the block where cyls meet block on a 76 kawi 900 i was doing top end job on a while back when little red plastic hose all the sudden blew off going into motor and down into crankcase/oil pan.
Had to remove oil pan to get it out, took approx 1hr to do and $5 for a pan gasket & was lucky i didnt have to remove the motor from frame to do it,PHEW!
With the plugs already out, you could have put it in top gear, rolled it till the piston came up, that would probably put a bend in the little plastic straw. Then it would have been easier to hook it and pull it out the plug hole. Either way, tragedy averted. We won't tell your brother-in-law. Your secret is safe with us. Unless he's a member here.
that feeling that goes all over your body at that moment......you just don't know until it happens to you. all those thousands of thoughts that zip through your mind at the speed of ..well ..thought. nice recovery! fishing for an hr. says alot about you.
